2025-Certified Kintsugi Specialist Course

2025 Certified Kintsugi Specialist Course

by Kintsugi Japan EU Branch and Suomen Kintsugiyhdistys

The Kintsugi Specialist Certification Course is a program jointly organized by the Finland Kintsugi Association and the Kintsugi Japan (EU Branch).

We are proud to offer the only Kintsugi Japan certified course in Europe. The course is led by LiLi, a certified Kintsugi-shi by Kintsugi Japan with extensive experience in natural Kintsugi techniques, who graduated from Kintsugi Japan.

The course is divided into two main components:
1. Theoretical study
2. Practical application.

Instructing languages: English (also possible in Japanese or Chinese)

Detailed information can be found below.

The first year focuses on the Kintsugi Specialist Certification course, the second year advances to the Kintsugi Professionalist Course, and the third year culminates in the Kintsugi Master program (TBD).

After completing the first year, you may choose to take the theory exam and submit your work for evaluation. Upon passing, you will receive your certification. Successfully passing both the theory and practical assessments in the first year qualifies you to continue to the more advanced second-year course. If you choose, you may also opt to conclude your studies after the first year. The theory exam is offered twice per academic year, and if you do not pass on your first attempt, you can register for a retake. (The second year and third year curriculum is still under confirmation and construction. )

The theory exam is conducted online, with both registration and the exam taking place virtually. Following the theory exam and practical assessment, there will be a review session covering exam answers and feedback on final projects. The certification ceremony will then be held as part of the course graduation.

All necessary study materials, professional tools, and supplies are provided as part of the course. The materials and tools used are the same as those utilized by professional Kintsugi restoration artists in Japan. In line with the long-standing principles of Kintsugi Japan, this course exclusively uses natural materials, avoiding all chemical synthetic restoration products to ensure that our practices are environmentally friendly. For specific details, please refer to the provided list.
