Type: Oolong tea
Origin: Taiwan
An exceptionally heavily roasted gaba with a woody sharpness which reminds Wuyi’s rock oolong, but without bitterness.
GABA comes from the English name for gamma aminobutyric acid. The leaves of Gaba tea are oxygenated anesthetized, e.g. in vacuum bags or in a nitrogen chamber. It causes the leaves to produce gaba, which gives a soothing feeling.
Despite its usual amount of caffeine, this tea has a calming effect. Tea is hard to brew too strong: that’s why it’s a particularly good tea for bowl infusion.
